Description: ALL Construction Group used the best design, means, and methods to provide Highland Materials with the longest engineering life cycle possible for their new facility and plant operations. For this project, ALL Construction Group performed the general contracting and implemented a design build approach from the beginning of the project.
This project involved major renovations and resurrection of a collapsed building and site from the 1930’s. This included renovating and re-engineering a preexisting silo bank at the rear of the facility, we did so by inserting 9 silos with 36,000 cubic feet of raw material storage. Structurally, we reinforced the buildings concrete foundations and reinforced 8” slabs. We also built a sales office and locker rooms in the facility for the employees. For the utilities of the building we create new utility feeds throughout the building. We also built an underground storm retention system as well as installed multiple bathrooms throughout the building. For the HVAC system we installed sealed combustion radiant tube heating throughout. This project also required the insertion of a fueling island, equipment sheds, site lighting, aggregate bins, and a bridge saw building.
Extensive site investigations were performed to determine existing underground utilities and locations and conditions of existing foundations for design consideration. This critical step was done during the initial design discovery to enable the re-purpose of existing systems and building components for re-use. All current code issues were outlined to accommodate all needed upgrades to the facility.
This facilities layout and design has given Highland Materials the ability to increase market share with more capacity then they had previously. Plant equipment and truck traffic patterns were analyzed to incorporate design needs that allows for semi-truck interior loading during foul weather conditions. The office now has space for off street sales and a showroom for new products.
New plant equipment for material transportation includes: 125 hp compressor, new fluid bed air dryer, air slides, weighted transporters, feeder belts, dust collectors, multiple diverters, two 80 lbs. bagging stations, a super sack bagger, bulk pallet storage finished product, staging areas for plant processing of deliverables.
ALL Construction Group’s design build team designed a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant that will stand the test of time and a facility that will accommodate future growth and increased market share capabilities.
